This prestigious annual event held at The Landmark hotel in London was attended by over 440 industry professionals. Joining HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO FIMI and Patron of the IMI was Richard Noble OBE, Project Director for Bloodhound SSC and land speed record holder between 1983 and 1997. Richard gave an inspirational speech about the importance of using a ground-breaking project like Bloodhound SSC to excite and enthuse children about technology, Sarah Sillars OBE hosted the Skillmiles awards, Executive Chair of the IMI.
Richard Noble was particularly interesting as his current project plans to not just break the land speed record but to demolish it by over 200 miles an hour increasing the record to over 1,000 mph. To read more about this project visit www.bloodhoundssc.com/ As part of the evening a presentation was made by HRH Prince Michael of Kent to Ben Eaton who won a bronze medal during the Worldskills event that Morelli Group supplied and our company was thanked by Sarah Sillars on the night for our ongoing support of the heats and finals of not only the UK Skills but also the World Skills.
Before sitting down for the evening meal, Andrew Moring, Marketing Director of the Morelli Group, had his picture taken presenting Ben his prize from Morelli Group of £200 off a training course at Smart Express. Ben used to work for a BMW dealer in Sheffield so we thought this would be a useful prize, however, on the night, Andrew found out that he had changed jobs to the Mercedes F1 team so we are not sure that he is going to be able to get much use out of SMART repair although he reassured me that he felt he would be able to as a lot of the techniques are used to keep the cars looking at their best during a race weekend.
